Nineteen students in the 2019 PaSSS cohort traveled to St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen in downtown Scranton, where they volunteered at its Client Choice Food Pantry and Free Clothing Store. They were joined by Michael Evans, assistant chief academic officer and associate teaching professor of nursing, and Maripat O’Donnell, part-time lecturer in sociology.
Penn State Scranton recently held its most recent round of Diversity Circles with participants that included campus students and staff members, as well as local community members. The Diversity Circles are overseen by trained facilitators and are meant to foster a more inclusive perspective among participants.

This summer, the Dawson Building at Penn State Scranton, named for the campus’ first director, is undergoing the second phase of a comprehensive renovation project, with local construction crews gutting and remodeling its first floor. The project is expected to be completed in time for the start of the fall semester.
