This is for students receiving financial aid in excess of their entire bill. You can sign up for e refund through Lionpath/Higher One.
By signing up for e refund, the student will have their refund electronically deposited into a bank account.
This is the preferred method for students as electronic refunds are processed every business day, while paper check refunds can take up to a month to receive.
Penn State offers an Installment Payment Plan. If a student has a balance due, this allows them to pay the balance over a 4-month period. A $45 non-refundable fee is charged to cover all administrative costs for the payment plan and is due with the first payment.
When you view your Student Account Statement in Lionpath/Higher One at the beginning of the semester, you will be given the option to use the installment plan. The statement will list billable costs and the most current known financial aid. The first one-fourth of billable costs is payable by the due date of the tuition bill. Payments can be made by e-check or credit card and will be automatically deducted on the 22nd of each month.
Student Account Statements are electronically generated on a monthly basis.
Students will be notified via their Penn State e-mail account when their Student Account Statement is available online to view and pay (no paper statements will be mailed).
Timing: Statements generated at the beginning of every month. Due dates are noted on your statement in the “Statement Summary” area.
The Office of the Bursar is responsible for maintaining student accounts pertaining to tuition billing, acceptance fees, charges, payments, posting of financial aid, and refunds of excess funds.
