Latino student club grows in popularity with focus on diversity and inclusivity

Since its formation last year, Penn State Scranton's Student Organization of Latinos has quickly become one of the most popular groups on campus, with a membership of 60-plus students and growing. The group co-sponsored a successful virtual celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month with a signature event featuring a guest speaker, campus alumnus and Brazilian immigrant Allan Souza, as well as a presentation by the group’s officers.

United Way Day of Caring 2019

Penn State Scranton students, staff and faculty joined volunteers from around the region to donate their time during the the 25th Annual United Way Day of Caring.

Sundance Award-winning filmmakers Cristina Ibarra and Alex Rivera will participate in a discussion after an online screening of their film "The Infiltrators" at 6:30 p.m. this Friday, October 9, open to all campuses and their communities. The event is co-presented by the Latina/o Studies Program and Penn State’s Sustainability Institute as part of the "Intersections: How We Respond" film series and Penn State’s Hispanic Heritage Month. The former Grainger Building was purchased by Penn State Scranton in 2018 for the future home of the campus' mechanical engineering program. This year, construction started on the renovations to the new building, which is located along the O'Neill Highway in Dunmore, and will also house the campus' Center for Business Development and Community Outreach and Police and Public Safety.
