PSWS student Brian Escobar's research project, "The Effect of Grit on College Students’ Academic Self-Efficacy and Performance: The Role of Gender" took first place in the Social Science category at the 2017 Undergraduate Research Fair at Penn State Worthington Scranton. His faculty adviser was Dr. Raymond Petren, assistant professor of HDFS. Research is an important component for students in the major and prepares them for both their future career fields, as well as graduate school.

PSWS alumnus and 2017 commencement speaker Vincent Sorgi, senior vice president and chief financial officer for PPL Corporation, addresses Penn State Worthngton Scranton's Class of 2017 on Saturday.
