Penn State Hazleton to host regional financial literacy workshops

HAZLETON, Pa. — The Penn State Hazleton library is sponsoring sessions on financial literacy for students, community members and employees on Wednesday, April 26.

Each session will feature informative financial information, with one session designed for adults and the other for young people. Daad Rizk, Penn State financial literacy director, and Brad Yeckley, assistant manager of financial literacy, will lead the workshops.

The first session, “Saving and Investing,” is for Penn State employees of the Hazleton, Schuylkill, Wilkes-Barre and Worthington Scranton campuses, along with members of the local community. It will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the upper floor of the Slusser/Bayzick Building.

Rizk and Yeckley will discuss complex and often-confusing financial products, a necessary vehicle for building a foundation for the future. This workshop will highlight the importance of saving and investing, as well as asset protection and the relationship between risk and return.
