Evans appointed coordinator of research team

Dr. Michael Evans, assistant clinical professor of nursing and assistant chief academic officer at Penn State Worthington Scranton, has been appointed coordinator of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) Research Team.

In this new position, Evans will be responsible for coordinating the review of research/EBP grant proposals; addressing issues related to medical-surgical nursing research; providing consultation to AMSN members regarding research/EBP projects; and collaborating with AMSN corporate sponsors to offer grants to support research.

His appointment remains current through March 31, 2019.

Board certified in medical surgical nursing and nursing education, Evans is published in the areas of nursing education and clinical practice.

He is a member of many professional organizations including the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, National League for Nursing and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), as well as the American Nurses Association and the American Diabetes Association.

Evans received an associate of science in nursing and his bachelor of science in nursing from Penn State and a master’s of science in nursing, with a specialization in adult health and a sub-specialization in nursing education from Misericordia University.

In addition, he earned his master of science in education with a focus in professional studies from Capella University and his doctorate in nursing from Penn State.

He resides in Archbald, with his wife, Stephanie and son, Finn.
