Penn State Worthington Scranton will host its final summer open house on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m.
It’s August! For college-bound students, that means school will be starting in a few short weeks. For high school students and adult learners looking to get a college degree, it's time to start looking at colleges they are interested in attending.
On August 18 at 6 p.m., Penn State Worthington Scranton will host its final Spend A Summer Evening open house of the season.
The event will be held in the campus' Gallagher Conference Center and include presentations on admission, financial aid, academic programs, and student life from faculty, staff, students and alumni at Penn State Worthington Scranton.
All prospective students are encouraged to attend.
The Spend A Summer Evening program is great for both traditional and non-traditional students. Attendees will learn about Penn State's degree programs, as well as ways they can become more involved on campus -- a proven component to a successful college experience.
Guests will learn about all of the extracurricular activities on campus, including the more than 20 student clubs currently active on campus, as well as academic options -- Worthington Scranton offers 10 baccaulaureate, degrees, five associate degrees and the first two years of more than 160 Penn State degrees.
The "Spend A Summer Evening" is perfect for students just beginning their college searches," said Sandra Feather, MSPT, director of enrollment management at Penn State Worthington Scranton. "This is a fun invitation to students and families to visit the campus, introduce them to Penn State students, faculty and staff and get some preliminary questions answered. If students are undecided about what or where they want to study, this event is for them."
Students will also hear about academic advising, career counseling, internship opportunities and they can talk with current Penn State Worthington Scranton students leaders. In addition, faculty and staff will be on hand to discuss the campus' honors programs, student clubs, financial aid, housing, advising and admissions criteria and the college application process.
