Dynamics of Personal and Professional  Leadership

These half-day workshops can benefit you, your employees and your business. They are especially helpful for supervisors, managers, human resource professionals and work teams. The fee for each of these workshops is $125 individual or $105 for groups from a single organization, which includes all materials.  These workshops can be brought to you onsite at your company or held here at Penn State Worthington Scranton.

Supervisory Leadership:  Learn about supervisory leadership profiles, the transition to supervision, and the changing nature of supervision. We will discuss the need for the proper skills, values, ethics, and communication to be a successful supervisor.

Resolving Interpersonal Conflict:  You will learn to recognize the stages of conflict resolution and what causes interpersonal conflict. You will also analyze different approaches to resolving conflict, learning when each style is appropriate.

Solving Problems:  You will learn useful tools for defining problems, analyzing data, and generating alternative actions are explained and applied. Learn how setting goals, using conceptual thinking skills, planning and proper evaluation can assist in problem solving.  Check in Spring 2017

Managing Time and Priorities:  In this workshop you will learn how to set goals, determine your priorities, overcome interruptions and distractions, and avoid procrastination. We will also discuss delegation and how to efficiently run a meeting.  Check in Spring 2017

Human Resources and SHRM courses 

SHRM has established the new certification standard for the HR profession.

Earning your SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP™) or SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP™) credential establishes you as a recognized expert in the HR field.

This course consists of 36 hours of classroom instruction, including a review prior to the new certification exam. In addition to the classroom experience, you will receive SHRM Learning System materials and access to online learning, legislative updates and practice tests.

Saturdays:  3/4, 3/18, 3/25, 04/08, 04/22, 04/29 and no classes on 03/11, 4/1, and 4/15).

8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Fee: $1,450 for SHRM members
        $1,550 for non-members

The fee includes lunch and study materials.

There is an additional discount available for NEPA SHRM chapter members.

Introduction to Revit

In this hands-on computer-aided drafting course participants will be introduced to Revit, which is used for the creation of commercial and residential structures.  This course will include: drawing and editing tools; setting up levels; columns and column grids; drawing and modifying walls; adding doors and windows; creating floors; creating schedules; and adding detail views.

Language Courses

Spanish for Workplace Supervisors

This course is designed specifically for supervisors to better communicate with Spanish-speakers in a variety of situations.  Learn terms, phrases, and questions that can be used to help improve Teamwork, Safety, Productivity, and Work Quality.  This course includes a cultural awareness component.

APICS-CPIM Program Certificate

The Association for Operations Management (APICS) Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program will be offered through the winter and spring of 2015. Upon your completion of the CPIM program, participants can also earn a non-credit certificate in Production Management from Penn State

APICS-CSCP Program Certificate

CSCP-Certified Supply Chain Professional:   To earn the APICS-CSCP designation, candidates must meet eligibility requirements and pass the APICS-CSCP exam.  This is an instructor-led, comprehensive professional development and exam preparation program based on the current APICS-CSCP exam content material. This training program combines print materials and interactive Web-based study tools to provide a customized learning experience. 

The learning system is divided into three modules: Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management; Supply Chain Strategy; and Design and Compliance Implementation and Operations.

Pennsylvania's Real Estate Pre-licensing Education Courses

Real Estate Fundamentals (3.0 CEU's)

This course will introduce you to the language, principles, and laws that govern the language of real estate in Pennsylvania. This course and the Real Estate Practice course have been approved by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission and can be applied toward the educational requirements for the salesperson's license exam.

Real Estate Practice (3.0 CEU's)

This course is an introduction to all facets of the real estate business, including a survey of areas of specialization, with emphasis on the role of a real estate agent in residential brokerage. The course includes an examination of a real estate transaction, designed to provide you with a working knowledge of the forms and documents used along with related mathematics.

Project Management


Ensure you're prepared for the rigorous PMP Exam with Penn State Worthington Scranton's new preparation course.  This intensive 12 session/36 hour program combines expert instruction with The CERTWISE™ Learning System for PMP® Exam Preparation training materials and meets PMI’s 35 contact hour PMP Exam requirement. Our course will help you learn faster, retain more knowledge and stay on track for success on the PMP exam.  This program is brought to us via the Penn State Video Learning Network from Penn State Berks.

This course will be held Monday evenings at Penn State Worthington Scranton's Business Building, Room 207. Class dates are from 10/17/2016 – 2/13/2017 from 6:30-9:30pm. No class will be held 10/31, 11/21, 12/19, 12/26, 1/2, or 1/16.  The required books are included in the course fee and will be provided the first night of class, (does not include the PMBOK).

Project Management Workshop

This workshop is designed to help you plan and prepare for managing a project.  You will:  explore the challenges of managing a project; determine the project scope; consider budget issues; break down work activities; consider legal issues; and assess project risk among other things.  Proper planning greatly increases the likelihood of achieving proper outcomes.

This three-day seminar series targets productivity enhancement and competitive advantages for business owners, plant managers, directors and planners in supply chain and manufacturing environments.

Sales and Operations Planning: Developing a Process that Works! Participants will learn to manage forecasts, constraints, inventory and other resources to ensure that SUPPLY matches DEMAND!

MRP in a LEAN Environment: The Marriage of MRP and LEAN - participants will learn to optimize MRP parameters for planning and apply LEAN concepts for execution.

Spanish in the Workplace

This course covers basic Spanish words and phrases to enable co-workers to communicate more effectively in the workplace.  

Cultural Awareness

This course is designed to teach participants to be aware of basic cultural differences and their effect on communication and expectations in the workplace and society.
