Pennsylvania's Real Estate Pre-licensing Education Courses:

Real Estate Fundamentals (3.0 CEU's)

This course will introduce you to the language, principles, and laws that govern the language of real estate in Pennsylvania. This course and the Real Estate Practice course have been approved by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission and can be applied toward the educational requirements for the salesperson's license exam.

Real Estate Practice (3.0 CEU's)

This course is an introduction to all facets of the real estate business, including a survey of areas of specialization, with emphasis on the role of a real estate agent in residential brokerage. The course includes an examination of a real estate transaction, designed to provide you with a working knowledge of the forms and documents used along with related mathematics.

Dynamics of Personal and Professional  Leadership

These half-day workshops can benefit you, your employees and your business. They are especially helpful for supervisors, managers, human resource professionals and work teams. The fee for each of these workshops is $125 individual or $105 for groups from a single organization, which includes all materials. These workshops can be brought to you onsite at your company or held here at Penn State Worthington Scranton.

Personal and Professional Goal Setting:  Using the S.M.A.R.T.(T.) (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time Specific, Tangible) model of goal setting both personal and professional goals are explored as well as goal setting as a tool for behavior modification.  Once the model is developed participants are lead into applying the model in a personal goal and a business goal.

Developing a Personal Vision and Value Statement:  Most organizations have one, why not the people that work in organizations? That is the premise of developing a personal vision statement.  Following  along a prescribed question process, the participants are lead into the self-discovery of what is most important to them and how they can set a direction to achieve those things. Then, values are introduced as a means of creating a road map for the endeavors that the participant developed.

Human Resources and SHRM courses 

SHRM Learning System Course

SHRM has established the new certification standard for the HR profession.

Earning your SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP™) or SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP™) credential establishes you as a recognized expert in the HR field.

This course consists of 36 hours of classroom instruction, including a review prior to the new certification exam. In addition to the classroom experience, you will receive SHRM Learning System materials and access to online learning, legislative updates and practice tests.

Saturdays:  3/4, 3/18, 3/25, 04/08, 04/22, 04/29 and no classes on 03/11, 4/1, and 4/15).

HR Boot Camp for the Non-HR Professional

These workshops are designed for business professionals that do not have a background in Human Resources, but are responsible for some or all HR functions within an organization.  Students may be owners, managers/supervisors, financial officers, etc. Throughout these workshops, students will gain insight into policies/procedures and "best practices" for Human Resources.  They will learn about HR laws and regulations, labor relations, types of employees, workplace environment, hiring and keeping good employees, and much more.

The start and end times of all the workshops are 9:00 am-1:00 pm. 

All Workshops are $105 per person. Ask about a discounted pricing for multiple people from the same organization.

Employee Relations:  Perhaps one of the most challenging issues of HR is employee relations. During this program we will discuss laws, regulations, progressive discipline, workplace communications, delivering feedback, and coaching and counseling.  The training will consist of defining employee relations, what if scenarios and small group exercises.

Introduction to Revit

In this hands-on computer-aided drafting course participants will be introduced to Revit, which is used for the creation of commercial and residential structures. This course will include: drawing and editing tools; setting up levels; columns and column grids; drawing and modifying walls; adding doors and windows; creating floors; creating schedules; and adding detail views.

Language Courses

Spanish for Workplace Supervisors

This course is designed specifically for supervisors to better communicate with Spanish-speakers in a variety of situations.  Learn terms, phrases, and questions that can be used to help improve teamwork, safety, productivity, and work quality. This course includes a cultural awareness component.

APICS-CPIM Program Certificate

The Association for Operations Management (APICS) Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) program. Upon your completion of the CPIM program, participants can also earn a non-credit certificate in Production Management from Penn State.

APICS-CSCP Program Certificate

CSCP-Certified Supply Chain Professional:   To earn the APICS-CSCP designation, candidates must meet eligibility requirements and pass the APICS-CSCP exam.  This is an instructor-led, comprehensive professional development and exam preparation program based on the current APICS-CSCP exam content material. This training program combines print materials and interactive Web-based study tools to provide a customized learning experience. 

The learning system is divided into three modules: Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management; Supply Chain Strategy; and Design and Compliance Implementation and Operations.

Project Management

PMP TEST EXAM PREP

Ensure you're prepared for the rigorous PMP Exam with Penn State Worthington Scranton's new preparation course.  This intensive 12-session/36-hour program combines expert instruction with The CERTWISE™ Learning System for PMP® Exam Preparation training materials and meets PMI’s 35 contact hour PMP Exam requirement.

Our course will help you learn faster, retain more knowledge and stay on track for success on the PMP exam.  This program is brought to us via the Penn State Video Learning Network from Penn State Berks.

This course will be held Monday evenings at Penn State Worthington Scranton's Business Building, Room 207. Class dates are from 10/17/2016 – 2/13/2017 from 6:30-9:30pm. No class will be held 10/31, 11/21, 12/19, 12/26, 1/2, or 1/16. 

The required books are included in the course fee and will be provided the first night of class, (does not include the PMBOK).

Project Management Workshop

This workshop is designed to help you plan and prepare for managing a project.  You will:  explore the challenges of managing a project; determine the project scope; consider budget issues; break down work activities; consider legal issues; and assess project risk among other things.  Proper planning greatly increases the likelihood of achieving proper outcomes.

MRP in a LEAN Environment: The Marriage of MRP and LEAN - participants will learn to optimize MRP parameters for planning and apply LEAN concepts for execution.

Spanish in the Workplace

This course covers basic Spanish words and phrases to enable co-workers to communicate more effectively in the workplace.  

Cultural Awareness

This course is designed to teach participants to be aware of basic cultural differences and their effect on communication and expectations in the workplace and society.
