Penn State introduces early action option for Fall 2019 applicants

This summer marks the first year for Penn State’s early action as an option for Penn State applicants for summer/fall 2019. Penn State’s applications open Aug. 1, giving prospective students more time to begin, and complete, their applications. Those who complete the application by Nov. 1 will be considered early-action applicants and receive an admissions decision by Dec. 24 and receive notice of their student aid package in mid-February, giving them more time to sort out their financial position.

Over 125 students, staff and faculty attended this year’s Student Recognition Dinner to celebrate the accomplishments of stand-out students and student clubs for their academics, campus involvement and community influence. Various staff members and departments were also recognized and honored.

Smart robot enhances kinesiology and speech classes at Scranton campus

A robotic video capture platform is well on its way to transforming kinesiology and speech education at Penn State Scranton. Previously piloted at other college campuses, including Penn State Berks, there are many uses for the robotic platform known as Swivl. The smart robot turns a tablet or smartphone into a video capture system that will scan a room at command and stop to focus where it is needed.

Scranton now offering bachelor's degree in project and supply chain management

Penn State Scranton will begin offering a bachelor of science degree in project and supply chain management in fall 2018, Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced. The degree will be offered as part of a consortium with the Hazleton, Schuylkill and Wilkes-Barre campuses. The first students will be accepted into the program for a fall 2018 start, and a full complement of upper-level classes will be offered beginning in fall 2019.
