Campus awards honor high-achieving students

Each year, Penn State Scranton honors those individuals from its staff, faculty and student body who have enriched the academic fabric of the campus, with special awards that recognize their accomplishments in select disciplines and/or student leadership and service. The awards are presented each spring at a special dinner honoring the recipients.

Fred Aebli 2018 Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching

Fred Aebli, information sciences and technology program co-coordinator and lecturer at Penn State Worthington Scranton, was one of this year's recipients of the 2018 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award, named after Penn State’s seventh president, honors excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.

Penn State Worthington Scranton graduates 135 at spring commencement

Penn State Worthington Scranton held its 50th commencement May 5 during a ceremony at the Scranton Cultural Center. This year’s commencement is particularly significant, as the class of 2018 marks the last graduating class of Penn State Worthington Scranton. On May 1, the campus officially became Penn State Scranton, a name change that was approved last year by the University’s Board of Trustees.

Penn State Scranton: Northeast campus name change becomes official

Penn State's presence in northeast Pennsylvania has now taken on a new name — Penn State Scranton. Approved by the University's Board of Trustees last July, the name change is intended to more accurately describe the campus' service area, as well as more correctly reflect the 21st-century mission of the campus and the significant role Penn State has in the region.
