A group of Penn State Worthington Scranton students, faculty and administrators attended the Invent Penn State Media Day earlier this month at the state capitol building in Harrisburg. The campus group was part of a University contingent who went to the capitol to draw attention to the Invent Penn State initiative, created just two-and-a-half years ago, which has established 21 innovation hubs across the Commonwealth.
Penn State Worthington Scranton celebrated Martin Luther King Day with a celebratory luncheon and the presentation of the campus' Excellence in Diversity Awards Ceremony. This year's award recipients were: Parminder Parmar, associate professor of HDFS; and Salma Ahmed, a student at Marywood University, interfaith youth core officer, and international ambassador and public relations officer for the Deen Community Center in Scranton.
Carla Medura will be recognized as the Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society 2017 Alumna of the Year at a reception in her honor on Wednesday, Jan. 31, on campus.
Stand for State will host an event, “All That WE ARE,” at Penn State campuses between Jan. 15 and 30. Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.
Penn State Worthington Scranton will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with its third annual MLK Day Luncheon and Excellence in Diversity Awards ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, in The View Cafe. Afterward students, staff and faculty will be going out into the community to participate in a variety of volunteer efforts.
Alisa Carter, a technical services employee in Penn State Worthington Scranton's maintenance and operations department, has been named the January employee of the month by Chancellor Marwan Wafa.
Wayne Frutchey, a technical services employee in Penn State Worthington Scranton's maintenance and operations department, has been named the December employee of the month by Chancellor Marwan Wafa.
The Penn State Worthington Scranton Chorale and Jazz Band, along with the Roc[k]tets, will continue its annual tradition of performing holiday music for the campus and local community. Two concerts will take place: one at the Living Christmas Village at Grace Bible Church in Dunmore at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, and another at the campus' The View Cafe at noon on Dec. 6.
Penn State Worthington Scranton will host a variety of events the week of Nov. 13 to commemorate veterans and military personnel, including a special recognition at the women's and men's basketball games on Nov. 14.
