Disability Services

Disability Services Information

Penn State University is committed to providing a welcoming, encouraging, and empowering environment for students with disabilities to ensure equal access, full participation and reasonable accommodations for their academic pursuits.

Student Disability Resources (SDR) is the designated office that provides reasonable accommodations and services to students with disabilities enrolled at the campus and is responsible for coordinating support services, academic accommodations, and promoting awareness in the university community.

Each Penn State campus has disability services staff that provide accommodations and services for students with disabilities. As mandated under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, each designated office:

  • requests and maintains disability-related documents
  • certifies eligibility for services
  • determines and develops plans for reasonable accommodations such as academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and/or services.

Information for Prospective Penn State Students

The Pennsylvania State University is committed to providing access to a quality education for all students, including those with documented disabilities. Students who are seeking services at Penn State must self-disclose the need for academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and/or services to the Campus Disability Coordinator at the Penn State campus they are attending.

Request Accommodations

It is encouraged that students request their accommodation needs early in the semester, and once identified, a reasonable accommodation will be implemented in a timely manner.
