With commitment and responsibility, we will provide excellence in academic advising to a diverse student community, encouraging exploration and supporting self-regulation and autonomy. We will assist all Penn State Worthington Scranton students in navigating the Penn State advising system, identifying appropriate major and minor goals, and providing access to the tools, resources, and support to assist students in meeting those goals.
All students are assigned an academic adviser. Utilizing an academic adviser is encouraged early and often throughout the semester and your academic career, and "self-advising" is strongly discouraged.
Adviser contact information can be found on LionPATH. If your adviser is not listed, please contact the Registrar's office, in Dawson Building Room 6, 570-963-2505
If you are seeking a contact person for an area outside of your adviser's area of expertise, please review the referral lists below and make the appropriate contact. If you are unsure of who to contact, call the Advising Center at (570)963-2686
Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS)
The Division of Undergraduate Studies is intended for students who want to explore the University's academic offerings before deciding on a field of study and for students in transition from one college or major to another. DUS encourages students to meet their academic potentials through well-informed educational planning, as well as through meaningful experiences such as internships, education abroad, public scholarship, research, and student organizations. For more information on DUS at Penn State Worthington Scranton, please visit the Penn State Worthington Scranton Division of Undergraduate Studies website.
This required program introduces students to what it means to be part of the Penn State Community, introduces students to valuable resources that they will use throughout their time at Penn State, and helps students begin planning their academic careers through advising and course scheduling. For more information, please visit the New Student Orientation (NSO).
